HYPLife
Winter Digest 2023-24
WELCOME BACK!
Dear Readers,
Happy Holidays! Wishing you all the best as we join together to experience this special season of light that beings with it the renewal of hope, reconnection with family and friends, and great new opportunities for networking and collaboration.
We apologize for the delay in publishing the Fall 2023 Issue of HYP Life due to turmoil on the world scene. Many have struggled with a variety of challenges in 2023. At this time, our team urges you, dear readers, to maintain the inner strength that is essential to overcoming any difficult time. Take every opportunity in 2024 to apply the powerful lessons we’ve imparted to you in previous years.
The focus of this season’s newsletter is solidarity and equity — words that are often said but rarely understood. To understand the meaning and value of true solidarity (which became a popular concept among 18th Century French Philosophers), one must first cultivate a strong sense of moral equity (which at its most basic foundation is an Aristotelian concept). Equity is the key to social change, professional flourishing and personal transformation — the key to evdemonia. It’s in embracing a sustainable concept of equity that solidarity in overcoming challenges can be achieved.
We invite each of you to work with us in connecting others to the people and resources they need to find balance and equity in their personal and professional lives. It may be a small deed — a call or text connecting a person to a new resource — or a significant level of mentoring and support. The important thing is to keep moving forward towards a brighter time, bringing others with you whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Highlights of our 2023 efforts include the following:
Below in “Events” are recaps about several events from our supporters at the Consulate General of Greece in New York, the Hellenic Film Society USA, the Hellenic Medical Society of New York, Capital Link and other organizations.
Always forward-thinking, our team has already planned a variety of activities for 2024 including our annual Holiday Mentoring Brunch @ Skinos NYC on January 6th and our 15th Annual Spring Symposium on May 18th. We hope you’ll join us.
We are here for you! The team at Philo4Thought specializes in helping our clients identify, manage and achieve their personal and professional potential to flourish in work and in life. As always, if you’d like to suggest a topic or activity, please email us at info@philo4thought.org or use the chat box at the bottom of the screen.

Looking for an Internship?
Want to Post an Available Job or Internship?
Standardized Criterion: All jobs and internships posted to our site must meet standardized federal and regional hiring criterion
Hiring an Unpaid Intern: Potential employers must meet specific administrative criterion to be eligible to hire a standard unpaid intern for the completion of 140-hours of work in exchange for 3 college credits. (Employers are responsible for submitting the standard followup documentation (timesheets and end-of-internship report) to the student’s department within one week of the student’s completion of the internship.)
Hiring a Paid Intern: Potential employers must verify that the intern will be paid at least the standard minimum wage for the State of New York. In cases where either the student or the employer is not based in New York, standard legal guidelines for minimum wage apply and should be followed. Proper I-9 and related tax/employment documentation must be completed prior to the start date.
Hiring a Young Professional Under 18: Philo4Thought does not typically work with students or professionals under the age of 18, however in the rare case that an intern is under 18 there is a standardized (required) contact form for parents and schools.
Philo4Thought Administrative Support: For a small fee, Philo4Thought vets potential employers, helps set up the introduction to qualifying students (age 18 or older) and ensures that preliminary documentation needed to secure the internship are completed. Email us at info@philo4thought.org to discuss your hiring needs and our qualifying process. (Please have your job/internship description and supporting documents ready when scheduling a meeting.)
